In 1982 there were a lot of "red" and "social" groups; Singer Kurt Ross decided to change his band's name to Kent State. Unfortunately, the half a dozen or so recordings his group made for the Posh Boy label have vanished, apart from Radio Moscow. Kurt went onto to have a career as a guitar tech for major bands. Ironically, it was Kurt's roadie that had promised me security when I was invited by Kent State to watch them play at the Fullerton roller rink; when Jack Grisham of T.S.O.L. showed up and sucker punched me, the roadie declared "I'm with Jack, now!".

Red Kross: Cover Band 7" PBS 22: REDD KROSS - Cover Band (45)
Taken by Al Kowalewski of Flipside magazine, the cover photo captures a very young Steve McDonald singing "Standing In Front Of Poseur". Most probably from one of their very first gigs upstairs at the Hong Kong Low restaurant in L.A.'s Chinatown in late 1979. It could have been the same evening that David Bowie visited the punk hang-out, sitting for a long time unmolested at a back table until Craig Lee (The Bags) began hounding him for an autograph and words of wisdom. Afterwards, Posh Boy caught one of the group members in the act of spray painting their "Red Cross" logo in the parking lot. Posh Boy never subscribed to that approach to obtaining name recognition.
